The Story of Creation
In a Blaan account printed with the historical spelling Bilaan, Melu forms the earth and human bodies, while Tau Tana’s intervention explains a feature of human anatomy.
Melu repeatedly works accumulated material into the land and later shapes people. Tau Tana joins the work, but the two creators disagree over how the human nose should be placed.
The bodily detail gives the account an etiological as well as cosmogonic purpose. The entry includes the modern name Blaan while preserving the source spelling for traceability.
