The Flood Story
A Cordilleran flood account recorded under the label Igorot describes waters covering the land while a brother and sister survive separately on the highest mountains.
Lumawig’s sons release overwhelming waters until only the tallest peaks remain. A young man and woman survive on different summits and later discover that they are the only people left.
The narrative is summarized closely but cautiously from Cole’s historical collection. Its flood motif can be compared across traditions without implying borrowing or equivalence.
